Get Out & Go Tours LLC offers experienced tour coordinators, who have been offering fully-supported trips on the C&O Canal Towpath since 1991. Get Out and Go Tours specializes in offering multi-day off-road rail-trail type supported tours, at reasonable per-day prices, with an increasing variety of tours and locations each year.
Transportation
There are numerous ways to travel in and out of our areas. Our useful links pages provide a wealth of information that can help you plan your tour. Tired of driving in a vehicle on endless road trips? Be sure and check Southwest Airlines. They fly into both Pittsburg and Washington, DC, and they offer round-trip travel to one and from the other, for a small additional fee. It's a great way to avoid the road portion of the tour, if you are already flying to the area, and to spend time in both cities as bookends to your tour.
Each Tour Includes
- Fitness oriented distance selection, with carefully identified options to shorten the day without missing key sights, for those who wish.
- Tour meals, including several buffet dinners and breakfasts, pre-determined snack, drink, and picnic style lunch stops.
- Pleasant hotel accommodations each night (double occupancy).
- Gear shuttle from hotel-to-hotel, with day bag, mechanical, and sag support at trail access points and at lunch.
- Extensive map and historical cue booklet for each participant, with daily preview of what's to come.
- Chartered transport from Washington before the tour, or to Washington after the tour, for all point-to-point tours.
- Bike transport.
All Trips Originate from Washington, DC
It is your responsibility to transport your own bicycle and gear to the starting point in Georgetown. Directions to the starting location and parking information (options) for the time you are gone will be provided with trip confirmation and tour details. Return transportation will drop off at the starting location.
Rental Equipment
We take care of delivering your rental bike to the start of the tour, and from the end of your tour, if you rent from us. We will also work with you for proper fit, features, and for accommodation of special requests. See our "FAQs" page, or our rentals page for more information.
Deposits and Waivers
In order to secure a spot on any Get Out & Go Tour, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required, and a completed registration form/waiver. If you are registering online with our new online registration, you will be able to sign the waiver form and complete registration electronically, saving postage and other environmental impacts. While awaiting the new registration capability, registration materials are available for download, completion, and mailing in. See our "FAQs" page for more detail on payments.
